Wedding videography in France
French Riviera wedding at Bastide du Roy
Bastide du Roy in Antibes doesn’t need embellishment. Its weathered stone, open gardens, and Riviera light created an environment that felt real and grounded — the ideal setting for Jess and Scott’s destination wedding, centred on music, people, and connection.
For Jess and Scott, choosing the French Riviera for their wedding wasn’t just about glamour or beauty, it was a reflection of their spirit. A destination wedding filmed against the Côte d’Azur skyline is in many ways a physical manifestation of their adventurous, boundary-crossing love. Bastide du Roy, perched above Antibes, became their sanctuary for a day; lush gardens, winding terraces, fountains, sun-drenched courtyards all framed the most magical moments.
Jess and Scott have known each other since they were teenagers; that sweet, fleeting age when everything feels possible but nothing is certain. Jess was a little older, confident and radiant in ways that Scott immediately noticed. She moved to Australia several times during her teens, coming and going between continents, and life never quite aligned for them to truly be together.
But Scott knew. Even as teenagers, he felt something deeper, something worth holding onto. Years later, when life brought them back into each other’s orbit, he didn’t hesitate. He followed her to Australia, crossing oceans just as she once had, determined not to let this chance slip away again. Their story is a testament to timing, persistence, and the kind of love that grows quietly over years before blooming all at once.
As a destination wedding filmmaker, I strive to capture not just the major moments - the ceremony, the first kiss - but the subtle, weightless ones: the quiet laughter between Jess and Scott, the way her dress catches the light, the guests arriving, the clinking of glasses, the laughters, the hugs. My lens moved like a guest, present but unobtrusive, so that what you see feels both real and dreamlike. The way the French Riviera truly felt that day.
From the moment guests arrived, the day was alive with energy. Friends and family gathered in the sunlit gardens, exchanging warmth and stories. The ceremony was heartfelt, with vows that carried both the sweetness of their shared history and the thrill of their future together.
Following the ceremony, there was laughter, dancing, and music. A live band played throughout the day — soft, elegant during the ceremony, then building into something joyous and free during the reception. Their melodies drifted through the courtyards, mingling with the sea breeze and warm Riviera air.
As evening fell, the party ignited. This wasn’t just a traditional wedding reception — it was a full-on celebration, a reflection of Jess and Scott’s energy and zest for life. The band transitioned seamlessly, a violinist found her way through the guests, weaving in between dancers, playing above the hum of conversation and laughter. Guests spun and swayed under string lights. The wine flowed, the laughter roared, and for a few hours, the garden felt like a magical, boundless place where nothing else mattered but this moment.
In the film, these hours become more than part of the day — they are the heart of it. I captured the impromptu solos, the joyous toasts, the spinning of skirts and the sparkle in everyone’s eyes. The evening’s vibe was electric, deeply personal, and utterly unforgettable.
